For
our All Ceramic Creations,
we use Empress, Empress 2,
E-max, Authentic Pressable
Ceramic and now also Zirkon
Ice.
Ivoclar Vivadent’s
IPS Empress® porcelain
and IPS Eris/Empress2®
porcelains for all of our
all-ceramic restorations.
The IPS Empress® system
utilizes pre-shaded ceramic
ingots and a unique pressing
process to fabricate all-ceramic
restorations. This leucite-reinforced
ceramic gets its high strength
from the finely processed
leucite crystals in the pressed
core.
The basis of this novel ceramic
is a special glass containing
latent nucleating agents.
In a multistage fabrication
process, leucite crystals
only a few microns in diameter
are produced by means of controlled
crystallization in a glass
matrix. The semifinished product
in powder form is subsequently
pressed into cylinders and
then fired.
The IPS Empress shade system
is used for individual characterization
of the dentin core. Then,
by means of layering with
incisal and transparent materials,
a true-to-life crown is produced.
The result: optimum aesthetic
characterization of anterior
crowns.
IPS Eris/Empress2® is
the second generation of the
revolutionary system in esthetic
dentistry, IPS Eris/Empress2,
now offers the possibility
to fabricate all-ceramic bridges.
The new lithium disilicate
framework ceramic and the
fluorapatite layering ceramic
permit the fabrication of
all-ceramic bridges that demonstrate
properties similar to those
of natural teeth. Eris can
be bonded or conventional
cementing techniques can be
used.
IPS Eris/Empress2 harmoniously
fits into the Ivoclar-Vivadent
range of products in coordinated
shades. The dentin shade of
the prepared tooth is determined
by means of the IPS die material
shade guide. This shade subsequently
serves as the ideal basis
for the final restoration.
