Gold Crowns

Gold crowns are the gold standard; what it lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in longevity and strength. The malleability of gold allows for very thin occlusal clearance which prevents the restoration from breaking or cracking under heavy load. Margins are easily burnished and softness of alloy allows for quick polishing. Although an older technique in crown fabrication, gold serves its purpose when all other options have been exhausted.
